CULINARY TRAINING

CENTER

The Culinary Training Center (CTC) is a program that teaches kitchen and restaurant management skills to at-risk girls.

01

Partner organizations refer vulnerable girls to our program. Our social workers also recruit students from local villages, offering our program as an option to young women in need of work.

02

In addition to culinary education, students also take classes in Khmer, math, English, computer, life skills, job readiness, and Bible study.

03

CTC graduates find work at local restaurants or resorts. Some may also find work at our CGI-operated restaurant, Green Mango Café & Bakery.

THE IMPACT

Sok came from a poor community and her home life was difficult. Sometimes her family did not have enough money for daily food. Sok was sad but willingly dropped out of secondary school to help support her family.

At the time, Sok felt hopeless.

A friend introduced her to Center for Global Impact and Sok applied for the CTC program. As she began as a student at CTC, Sok was excited to experience so many new things- new knowledge, skills and friends. She was also impacted by how kind, friendly, and loving everyone at CGI was to her.

Sok grew in confidence and found a new hope for her future.

The CTC training includes internships at local restaurants to gain more experience. Sok was recently hired full time by a restaurant where she interned. Sok is thankful to be able to use the skills she learned to find a job that she enjoys and to be able to support her family financially.

“Through my time with CGI, I learned to trust God. God has given me hope and confidence in myself. The first time I studied the Bible and learned about God’s love for me was through CGI and my life has been transformed. I hope that more girls who face hard situations like me will have a chance to see their lives transformed like I have.”
